the sum of rational and irrational number is irrational.
for example:-2 is rational and 2.34754442..... is irrational. the sum of these two numbers is 4.34754442..... so this is irrational.

the difference of one rational and one irrational number is irrational.
for example:-1-2.1234567890...=1.1234567890
this number is irrational.

hope it helps...
