YES , The title of the book written by William Shakespeare is defiantly appropriate because, in the play " The merchant of venice " is Antonio. And the whole story is about him.
** He has a friend, named Bassanio, who is a spendthrift and needs money.
** His ships are out at sea,but he was overconfident that he will pay back his debt amount.
** He signs the bond.
** He gets into trouble because of his over confidence.
All these are the main features regarding the novel, all these include the plays of Antonio and he isn't the strong and robust character of the play and hence being a very diligent and sterling writer , William Shakespeare kept the title of the play as ' Merchant of venice '.
