Is there a logical reason why the poem has 3 stanza?

yes,it has 3 stanzas because the poet wants to is talking about 3 stages of height of the jet (i.e the opening lines of each stanza)
first, "when the jet sprang into the sky" second,when the jet reached 10,000 feet", third "when the jet rose 6 miles high"
