Yes. This is a true statement.  Tsunamis are strong earthquakes which happen below the sea level.  An earthquake of at least 6.5 magnitude on a Richter scale is needed to cause a Tsunami.  It must be followed a vertical movement of water more than 40 to 50 metres in the air.  It happens at shallow places in the sea.
