Answer:

We have to check whether f(-2)is the solution of the given equation,

that is f(x)=0 or not,

f(x) = {x}^{2} - 2x + 8 \\ f( - 2) = {( - 2)}^{2} - 2( - 2) + 8 \\ f( - 2) = 4 + 4 + 8 = 16

here f(-2)=16 it is not equal to 0

therefore (-2) is not the solution of the given quadratic equation,....

Answer:

p(x) =  x^2 - 2x + 8

p(-2) = (-2)^2 - 2(-2) + 8

       = 4 + 4 + 8

       = 16

As we do not get 0 as the answer x = -2 is not a solution of  x^2-2x+8
