Thus, isotherms in the Northern Hemisphere are more curved while those in the Southern Hemisphere are almost parallel to the Equator showing almost no differential heating of land and water.

Isotherms are parallel to latitude in Southern Hemisphere in oceans because in Southern Hemisphere there is a higher percentage of oceans as compared to land hence, there is less obstruction for winds and isotherms are parallel.
