isotonic drinks means the drinks with the same concentration as that of blood .
during intense exercise ,the glucose and the energy of the body gets consumed very fast and the concentration of solutes in the body decreases considerably .
if you consume plain water after it , the body will not get required solutes and the blood glucose level also declines which can further lead to cramps , weakness , fatigue , etc .
