It is always easier to stop something which has lesser inertia.

Inertia is a quantity dependent on both mass and velocity.

So , tennis ball has much lesser mass, so has lesser inertia.

As a result , it is easier to stop to a tennis ball even though the balls are travelling with same velocity.
