it is dangorus because of the following reason

Now we can achieve this circuits in two different ways.

Case 1: the switch is placed just after the line connection of the AC supplyCase 2: the switch is placed just after the neutral connection of the AC supply.
or
n case 1 if the switch is open, then the dangerous live voltage is isolated from the circuit ans the rest of the circuit is at the safe neutral voltage.

However if we use case 2 the open switch will disconnect the neutral and hence switch off the bulb, but the rest of the circuit will still be at the dangerous live voltage. Hence even if the switch is off, one my get electric shock if they accidentally touch the damaged cable.
I hope this answer will help u

For the purpose of discussion lets consider a very simple circuit whose purpose is to light a bulb. It consits of an AC supply, a switch and(obviously) the bulb.

Now we can achieve this circuits in two different ways.

Case 1: the switch is placed just after the line connection of the AC supply

Case 2: the switch is placed just after the neutral connection of the AC supply

Both the above circuits will meet the objective of switching the bulb on and off, however case 1 is preferred. Why?

Thats because case one is a better design from a safety point of view.

Imagine a situation where due to some reason the insulation of the wires used in the circuit has been damaged and the conductor inside the wires are exposed.

In case 1 if the switch is open, then the dangerous live voltage is isolated from the circuit ans the rest of the circuit is at the safe neutral voltage.

However if we use case 2 the open switch will disconnect the neutral and hence switch off the bulb, but the rest of the circuit will still be at the dangerous live voltage. Hence even if the switch is off, one my get electric shock if they accidentally touch the damaged cable

Hope that helped you:)
