when our foot falls on a peel of banana, the peel cannot push the ground in the backward direction. Consequently no reaction force acts on our foot and we lose balance.
A frictional force always acts parallel to the surface and is directed to oppose sliding. Banana skin reduces friction (or frictional force) and thus brings body in unbalanced state and we tend to fall.
