It is easier to roll a stone up a sloping road than to lift it vertical upwards because??

work done in rolling a stone is less than in lifting it..

the stones are a bit circular and the gravity is in same direction so the stone rolls easily on slopping road . and when we lift stone the gravity opposes the force.
