Yes it is easier to stop a tennis ball than to stop a cricket ball because the mass if cricket ball is greater than the mass of tennis ball.
Momentum= mass x velocity
So the momentum of cricket ball is greater than that of the tennis ball. So it would be much easier to change the momentum of the tennis ball to make the velocity 0 rather than stopping the cricket ball which requires more change in direction as well as i momentum which is not easy.
