it is given in NCERT that smaller animals have larger surface area and more heat loss .so smaller animals are not found in polar region . but accordig to allens law mammals in polar regions have small ears and limbs to minimize heat loss...but small size means more surface area and more loss of heat so how does it minimize heat loss?

a result of the different ratio between the surfaces and volumes of each of them. A small animal has a greater surface area for its size compared to an adult animal. That is why small animal, as well as a baby, is more prone to heat loss. Larger animals can keep their heat for a longer time.
