It is given that nitrogen reduces itself to oxides of nitrogen..then the element that is left behind is hydrogen (HNO3)(Nitric acid)..so
HOW CAN THEY CONCLUDE THAT HYDROGEN IS NOT FORMED???

oxidising means that of adding oxygen or removing hydrogen.as nitric acid is a good oxidising agent it does not form hydrogen.
