3x -  \frac{5}{3}  = x - 3 \\  \\ 3x + x =  \frac{5}{3}  - 3 \\  \\ 4x =  \frac{5 - 9}{3}  \\  \\ 4x =  \frac{ - 4}{3}  \\  \\ x =  \frac{ \frac{ - 4}{3} }{4}  =  \frac{ - 4}{12}  =  \frac{ - 1}{3}
