yes because things like table , bed protects us from falling light fittings on our head, ornaments so that our head cold be saved
but it is some here inadequate because if a root fall on the thing it will b difficult or very dangerous to stay below it......

Hey mate!

Yes, its a better option to take shelter under things like a bed, and a table during the earthquake, so to keep ourself safe from the direct hits from the falling objects, (Since, brain is the most imp part of our body, we protect our HEAD from direct hits from falling objects by taking shelter under such things). Other alternatives are Going to a low lying plane field if possible or if no shelter available in a room sticking to the rooms walls keeping hands over the head can be useful.
