it is said that resistance is directly propotional to 1/area of cross section

My question is if wire breadth is more and it's resistance is also more

So why resistance is directly proportional to 1/ area of cross section

MOST IMFORMATIVE ANSWER WILL BE TEARMED AS BRAINLY

resistance is directly propovtional to 1/area of cross section, that is, resistance is inversely proportional to the area of cross section, which again means that if the area of cross section, i.e. the width of a wire is increased, then the current flowing through it would also increase and eventually the resistance would decrease.

You seem to be a bit confused...

The area of cross section is inversely proportional to the resistance of the wire, that is, if the width of the wire will be increased, then it's resistance would be decreased.

Hope it was of some help!!!

Answer:

Explanation: According to your question the the length of wire will be bigger than breadth. And it's specific resistance of wire p can be less in some condition.

As length is directly proportional to resistance as more length more collision of electron.
