Aside from learning how to give CPR, you will also learn how to assess the patient’s consciousness in a first aid BLS training. Should you want to have an in-depth knowledge in BLS, I suggest that you look for reputable medical training providers online. These providers can offer you with extensive BLS training that includes anaphylaxis training and AED.

AED use is paramount to successful resuscitation in Basic Life Support. In a witnessed cardiac arrest, AED use is THE most important factor. In an unwitnessed arrest, immediate CPR is preeminent followed by early use of an AED.

Studies show that within the first 3 to 4 minutes of cardiac arrest with ventricular fibrillation, the chances of survival upon defibrillation remain the same with or without the presence of CPR.
