Given that,

Time = 15 min

Initial temperature = 0°C

An electrical heater of constant power after this one hour and 20 minutes are required in the same conditions to convert all water into vapour

Suppose we need to find the latent heat of vapourization of water

Let the power delivered by the heater is P.

So, heat supplied in 15 min is

Q=15 P...(I)

Heat supplied in 1 hours 20 min is

Q'=80P....(II)

We need to calculate the latent heat of vapourization of water

Using equation (I) and (II)

\dfrac{Q}{Q'}=\dfrac{15 P}{80 P}

\dfrac{mc\Delta T}{mL}=\dfrac{15}{80}

Put the value into the formula

\dfrac{m\times1\times(100-0)}{mL}=\dfrac{15}{80}

L=\dfrac{80\times100}{15}

L=533.33\ cal

Hence, The latent heat of vapourization of water is 533.33 cal.
