It takes time for the pieces of the shahabad tile to disappear in hcl but its powder disappears rapidly give scientific reason

since the powder has a large surface area over which the acid can react upon , whereas on a tile there is very little surface area exposed to the acid.. so it takes time to dissolve the uppermost layer first and slowly moves to the inner part

Rate of reaction depends upon the size of the particles of the reactants taking part in the reaction. smaller the size of the reactant particles , higher is the rate of the reaction .hence......
