a.. In their quest for expanding trade, many European colonial powers brought about severe social, economic , political changes in the colonies so as to integrate them with the World economy.It resulted in the loss of livelihood and freedom for colonies in Asia and Africa. For instance, Africa was demarcated and divided among the European colonists.

b. We may also give example rinderpest , a disease which was was the result of import of infected cattle from British Asia which killed 90% of the cattle in Africa. It had a devastating impact on the people. It resulted in the Loss of livelihoods due to loss of cattle which compelled African to become labourers for the colonists.

19th century indentured has been described as a new system of slavery because of following reasons.

In 19th century the indenture labourers lived in harsh working conditions and had few legal rights.

They were under contract to work free to pay for their passage which they could never earn, as a result they were almost in bondage.

If anyone wanted to run away, they were caught and severely punished that is why indenture has been described as the new system of slavery.
