"It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."

Explanation:

The saying means that it is always advantageous or more beneficial to have something in life that you think one can use in future and not used currently than or compared to not having it and constantly thinking that you may need it. For example, in the famous story of fox and grapes, in that story, the fox tried to have grapes, but in the end, when he didn't have any, he categorises those grapes as sour ones similarly we doing hard work for something and leaving it in between before having it make us believe that it is not we need but sub-consciously we all are aware that maybe we need that thing in future or now, that makes us restless and unhappy, so it is always better to have it and get inner peace or satisfaction.

One can apply this saying in life by maintaining our inner fire or constant passion for achieving the unacheivable.

Answer: What The saying means.

Explanation:

The saying basically means to plan and be prepared for life. For example my mother always has a fire extinguisher in her car. She may not need it at present, but a situation may arise in the future where is she may need it. So, she already has it and can deal with the situation.
