Its mentioned that an electric bulb is rated 60W, then again after some calculation we have to find out the power absorbed by that particular bulb. What is the difference between these two powers?

Explanation:

Everyone should know by now that the resistance of a tungsten bulb is not constant. And as everyone who has taken Ohm’s Law 101 knows, the resistance at 220V is (220^2)/60 = 806.7 ohms.

However, if you measured the cold resistance with an ohm meter, it could be as low as 80 ohms. The exact value cannot be calculated unless you know the exact temperature of the filament, and the resistance vs temperature equation.

The resistance at any voltage other than 220V is also not known, but could be estimated. Below 220V, it will be less than 806.7 ohms. Above 220V, it will be higher.
