For the IUPAC nomenclature, first we have to find the longest carbon chain.
And no doubt here we have only 1 chain of 3 carbon long. :P
So, the root word is ‘prop-'
Moving on to any functional group or substituent.
In CH3-CH2-CH2-OH , we have only one functional group that is –OH (alcohol) and no substituent. Due to the presence of alcohol in the first C atom, the suffix of the name is gonna be -1-ol.
☛ Combining both, the name of the compound turns out to be, propan-1-ol or simply propanol.
Thanks. :)

Answer:
The IUPAC name is Propan- 1-ol
Explanation:
- The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry is referred to as IUPAC.
- It provides a special technique for the systematic naming of chemical molecules.
- IUPAC naming of the chemical compound is depend on the nature of the compound
Rules of naming organic compound by IUPAC:
- The parent chain, which contains the longest chain of hydrocarbons, must first be determined.
- The main functional group has to be determined.
- The Carbon atoms has to be numbered which is connected to the primary functional group.
⇒ The given compound is and alcohol organic compound because it ends with OH
⇒ In the given compound hydroxyl group is the primary functional group which is attached to alkane chain.
⇒ Therefore the given organic compound belongs to the propyl group
Hence the given compound is Propanol
Propanol:
- An organic substance called Propanol which has a functional aldehyde group in it.
- An organic molecule called propionic acid has a carboxylic acid functional group in it.
- Three carbon chains can be found in the hydrocarbon propane.
⇒ In this compound the number of carbon atom is 3 therefore parent alkane is propane
⇒ The functional group is present in OH i.e alcohol which is present at the first carbon atom
Therefore the compound can be denoted as Propan - 1 - ol.
Final answer:
The IUPAC name is Propan- 1-ol
