Manish Ghatak's parents were Suresh Chandra Ghatak and Indubala Devi. Noted Bengali film director Ritwik Ghatak was his youngest brother. Ghatak married Dharitri Devi, who was from the well known Chaudhuri family in Dhaka, in undivided Bengal, with Sankho Chaudhuri, the noted sculptor and Sachin Chaudhuri, the founder-editor of the Economic and Political Weekly of India, being her siblings. Mahasweta Devi is their eldest daughter.[3] His eldest grandson, Mahasweta Devi's son, Nabarun Bhattacharya was also a very well-known writer.
Mahasweta Devi was an Indian writer in Bengali. She was born on 14 January, 1926 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She was a daughter of Mahesh Ghatak who was the poet and novelist and Dharitri Devi who was writer and social worker. She got her education from Vishvabharati Santiniketan and Bachelor of Art in English Honours from Calcutta University. She had work many literature extract - she wrote 100 novels, 20 collection of short stories. Her notable literary works include Hajar Churashir Maa, Rudali, and Aranyer Adhikar, Titumir etc. She worked for the rights of Lodha and Shabar that depict the work of her mother. She was rewarded by many awards like Sahitya Akademi, Jnanpith Award, Padmashri, Padma Vibhushan, Raman Magsaysay Award. She died on 28th July, 2016.
