joining the points P( - 4, 5) and Q(3. – 7)?​

Let the required ratio be k : 1. Then, the coordinates of the point of division are,

(3k - 4/k + 1 , 7k + 5/k + 1)

But, it is a point on y-axis on which x-coordinate of every point is zero.

Therefore 3k - 4/ k + 1 = 0

3k - 4 = 0

k = 4/3

Thus, the required ratio is k = 4/3 or 4 : 3.
