LET THE COST OF PEN =2x AND PENCIL= x
SO, 2 pens + 3 pencils= 49rs (GIVEN)
4x + 3x = 49
7x= 49
x =7

SO WE FOUND THAT x=7 SO COST OF PENCIL= 7 AND COST OF PEN= 14

SO NOW WE HV TO FIND COST OF 7 PENS+ 9 PENCILS

= 98 + 63
= 161

SO THE ANSWER IS ===> 161

let us assume the cost of 1 pencil to be x. then cost of 1 pen is 2x. the equation we get is 2(2x)+3x=49. by solving it, we get x=rupees 7. if cost of pencil is 7, then cost of pen is 14. cost of 7 pens and 9 pencils= 7*14+9*7=161 rupees. hope it helps
