  • The present age of James be 6X
  • The present age of his son be X

\large{\underline{\red{\rm{To\:Find:}}}}

  • Their present age

\large{\underline{\red{\rm{A.T.Q:}}}}

20 years ago he was 10 times of his sons age

6X-20=10(X-20)

⟹6X-20=10X-200

⟹10X-6X=-20+200

⟹4X=180

\cancel{4}X=\cancel{180}

⟹X=45

Hence,

The present of James=6×45=270 year's

The present of his son=45 year's

QuEsTiOn :-

Jame's age is six times his son's age.Twenty years ago he was ten times his son age. Find their present age.

SoLuTiOn :-

Let the present age of son = x

and present age of Jame's = 6x

Given :-

• Twenty years ago :-

The present age of son = x - 20

and present age of Jame's = 6x - 20

According to question

6x - 20 = 10(x - 20)

=> 6x - 20 = 10x - 200

=> 6x - 10x = - 200 + 20

=> - 4x = - 180

=> 4x = 180

=> x = 180/4

=> x = 45

So,

Present age of son = 45 and ,

Present age of Jame's = 6x = 6×45 = 270
