now, equating both equations,we get

∵ (2x/7)/(2x/7+3)=14/5

or (2x/7)*(7/2x+21)=14/5

or 2x/(2x+21)=14/5

or 14*(2x+21)=2x*5

or 28x+294=10x

or 28x-10x=294

or 18x=294

or x=16.3

∴ the present age of james is about 16year and 3 months. i.e. 16.3 is the answer.
