Answer:

Cost of Pen is 40 rupees

Step-by-step explanation:

Jasmher bought 5 pens and is left with 100 rs.

At same price ramel bought 7 pens and is left with 20rs.

Now price difference is 80 rs for a difference of 2 pens

Price of pen is 80 / 2

Price of one pen is 40 rs

Total amount of money that each was carrying;

= (40 * 5) + 100

= 300

Alternatively

= (40 * 7) + 20

= 300

The cost of one pen is 40 rupees.

let Jasmher and ramel both have X rupees

let the cost of one pen be y

therefore acc to question

for Jasmher X=5Y+100 let this be equation 1

for Ramel, X=7Y+20 let this be equation 2

therefore from eq1 and eq2

5Y+100= 7Y +20

7Y-5Y =100-20

2Y =80

Y=40

hence the cost of one pen is Y which is 40 rupees
