Jason Myrie is the office administrator at System Logic Incorporated, an information and communication technology company. His job is to ensure that each member of staff is given correct assignments, supervise the smooth operations of the office and address customer queries.
One of their customers, RealCorp©, is hosting a time management workshop and System Logic has been requested to provide lighting, sound and video projection services. The request was made six weeks prior to the event. Two weeks before the event, the CEO of RealCorp© sent an email to Jason, reminding him of their requirements and indicating in the communication that the date for the event was moved up by two days.
Assuming that he was reading an email that was resent, and feeling overwhelmed by personal problems, Jason Myrie deleted the email and did not bother to forward the information to his boss or dispatch the email to the relevant departments whose members would have a role to play provision of the service.
On the day of the event, the necessary equipment and lighting were not in place to facilitate the smooth execution of the workshop. An infuriated RealCorp CEO called System Logic offices and demanded to speak to the manger, who he described in a heated argument as unprofessional, unreliable and dishonest. He demanded a refund of his deposit to System Logic and informed the manager that legal action was being initiated against the company, seeking redress for the income lost on the day of the time management workshop.
