“Jati” is a racial category.  

Explanation:

The word “Jati” is from Sanskrit origin which means “Birth” in English. People were discriminated into a different category based upon their birth. If an individual is born in Brahmin family, he is considered as high Jati; on the other hand, individuals born in the tribal family are called Lower Jati.
