Explanation:

By the law of conservation of energy,

initial energy of the system=final system of the system..

We know,

radiant energy=hc/lambda

where h=Plank's constant

c=speed of light in vacuum

lambda=wavelength

so,

initial energy of the system=hc/lambda

final energy of the system=radiant energy=hc/lambda1+hc/lambda2

so,

hc/lambda=hc/lambda1+hc/lambda2

lambda=lambda1*lambda2/(lambda1+lambda2)
