Given :

Hours   Cost in $

2             7

4            14

6            21

Jeremy looked at this table of prices and said the cost for renting a bike is $7.00 per hour.

To Find :  What mistake may Jeremy have made? Explain.

Solution

Hours   Cost in $

2             7

4            14

6            21

For every 2 hours cost in being increased by 7 $

Hence cost for renting a bike is $ 7 for every 2 hrs

=> cost for renting a bike is $7.00/2 = $ 3.5  per hour.

mistake may Jeremy have made is that he forget to divide by 2

or did not notice that  7 $ is for every 2 hrs not for 1 hr
