the jhum cultivators i.e the shifting cultivators suffered a lot under British colonial rulers because the British wanted to collect revenue from each and every person including the tribals so they used to make many new policies and rules due to which the shifting cultivaters would settle at one place because they were always on move. They were restricted from moving to other places every now and then. Settling them was a very important task for the British because only in this money could be collected from them.
