Jim was in a happier state of mind because in the middle of the war he and the Germans were making peace. They were enjoying Christmas with each other. They ate and played with each other. Jim MacPherson was very happy by these. He was also happy because they both were against the war. They wanted to resolve by games so that no one will lose his/her life.
