Hey friend,
Here's your answer,
Pescud in the "Best Seller" asserts that he dislikes romances where people behave differently from what people do in real life. Towards the end of the story, we are amused to find that he himself does what is often done in the world of romances. Most of the people, in fact, same as John A Pescud, say something and practice something else. It is so because of the fear to face reality. They fear that if they state clearly what they intend to do, they may be ridiculed or censored.
This shows that John A. Pescud was a hypocrite because he was just antagonistic to what he said in real life. Hypocrisy does not pays in the long run, while truthfulness does.
Hope this helps!!!!
