Jonas is a marathon runner. He runs the first part of a marathon in 22 minutes. Then he runs at a pace of 11 miles per hour, which means it takes him 5.5 minutes to complete each mile. Write an equation that gives the total time in terms of the number of miles after the first part of the race. Use X to represent the number of miles after the first part of the race and use Y to represent the total time

Y = total time
X =  number of miles after the first part of the race

when X=0 (just after first part, Y = 22 minutes
Then he takes 5.5 minutes to cover each mile. So total time becomes

Y = 22 + 5.5X
where X is in miles and Y is in minutes.
