Given : Joseph plots the speed of his car and time on a scatter plot.

The equation for the line of best fit on his scatter plot is y = -15x + 60, where x is the time in hours and y is the speed in miles/hour.

To Find : Which statement describes the situation correctly

Solution:

As the time increases the speed decreases.

y = -15x  + 60

at x = 0

y = 60   ( maximum )

at  x = 4

y = 0   ( minimum )

As the time increases speed decreases

With initial speed 60  and final speed at rest after 4 unit time
