Answer:

Number of guest are 92.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Joy organized a wedding. Guests had to choose their meal. 1/3 of the guests chose beef . 5/12 of the guests chose chicken . 23 of the guests chose vegetarian.

To find : How many guests where at the party ?

Solution :

Let the total number of guest at the party be 'x'.

Number of guest who choose beef is \frac{1}{3}x

Number of guest who choose chicken is \frac{5}{12}x

Number of guest who choose vegetarian is 23.

So, Total number of guest are

x=\frac{1}{3}x+\frac{5}{12}x+23

x-\frac{1}{3}x-\frac{5}{12}x=23

\frac{12x-4x-5x}{12}=23

\frac{3x}{12}=23

3x=23\times 12

3x=276

x=\frac{276}{3}

x=92

Therefore, Number of guest are 92.
