Just before ovulation in the human female, all

the following are true except that :-

2. Second polar body has just been expelled.

In an adult human female, usually ovulation occurs at the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. Just before the ovulation,

  • Meiosis-1 has just completed
  • Meiosis-ll is arrested at metaphase
  • There is presence of Graafian follicle in ovary

Second polar body is formed when the sperm is just met with the ovum/ secondary oocyte. At that time, the second meiotic division of the ovum gets completed and the second polar body is formed.
