Undoubtedly, presence of mind is far more valuable than anything. If one has presence of mind, one can solve any problem. Presence of mind makes one creative, innovative, resourceful, and knowledgeable.

In the play ‘If I were You’, Gerard shows presence of mind and outsmarts the intruder. If in place of showing presence of mind, he would have panicked, he would have been killed. But presence of mind kept Gerard calm and gave him a clever plan of locking the intruder up in a room.

Presence of mind and patience are the two attributes of Gerrard personality that held him at the time of adversity. He was successful in getting rid of the intruder who otherwisewould have killed him. Gerrard's cool temper allowed him to make a story which trapped the intruder. He made him believe that he himself was a criminal. He offered his help to the intruder. He knew that he would not be able to save himself from the intruder. He used the weapon of his wit and patience to outsmart the intruder. It is rightly said that presence of mind and patience are two values help of a person at a time of adversity and danger.
