Resource development was the main concern of the leaders of the past. For example Gandhiji was apt in saying "ther is enough for everybodys need and not for anybodys greed."
He placed the greedy and selfish individuals and the exploitative nature of the modern technology as the root cause of resource depletetion at global level.
He was against mass production and wanted to replace it with the production by the masses.
