Chloroplast is a type of plastids in green colour. Plastids are present only in plant cells . plastids are mainly of 3 types 1) Chromoplasts(coloured)
2) Leucoplasts (colourless) and 3) Chloroplasts (greenish) . Chloroplasts are of different shapes like disc ,oval etc.. . The primary function of chloroplasts is to trap the energy from sunlight and transform it into chemical energy, this help to carry out photosynthesis.
The diameter of chloroplasts is higher plants can vary between 4to 10 micron . In algae this can be found as ladders , stars, spirals or reticulate .
