Jump to Sporophytic Phase · It consists two to three layers of loosely arranged chlorophyllous cells. It is present inner to hypodermis. These cells are capable to manufacture their own food but dependent on gametophyte for water and mineral nutrients. Therefore, the sporophyte of Funaria is partially dependent on gametophyte.
