In vegetative reproduction, a new plant is produced from the somatic cells of the parent plant. Only one parent is involved. No gametic fusion takes place and no zygote is produced. Hence, no variations are seen genetically in the progeny.
The chromosomal number is also maintained constant.

Almost, the same happens in asexual reproduction too.Only one parent is involved. No gametic fusion takes place, no zygote is formed, no genetical  variations in the progeny and no change in the chromosomal number.

Hence, vegetative reproduction is also considered as a type of asexual reproduction.
