This story is about a series of letters that tells a heart touching story about the friendship of the speaker and the new girl  and also dealing with disabilities because she has only one hand and other 'prosthetic hand'. So, in the Helping Hand the writer was asked to help the new girl in the class and be her mentor. Then they slowly becomes friend of her. At first she hated the new girl but later they become good friends because the speaker even wrote his feelings in form of letters about the new girl. At last the speaker felt the the hand very cool as she could move the fingers and grip anything with it.
