Answer:

A pulley is used to lift something heavy. In this case, God tries to lift man, heavy with sin.

Paradoxically, by the pulling down on the rope of a pulley, something heavy is lifted upwards ( In this case symbolic towards god )

Answer:

The Pulley is a beautiful poem written by George Herbert. He was a metaphysical poet and very famous for his conceit.

The poet says that when God has created man he has decided to give all kind of gifts whatever he has.

He starts giving gifts to man one by one. He gives strength, beauty, wisdom, and pleasure. But suddenly he stops and thinks if I give everything to man then man starts admiring gifts not to the God. So God doesn't offer rest to human being.

God thinks that when man becomes restless he definitely remember God. So restlessness become pulley to reach to God.

The poet here use restlessness as a pulley to reach to the God.

Pulley is basically a mechanical device to lift the heavy weight but here restlessness becomes the pulley to lift humans towards God.
