The story "The Scarecrow" by Satyajit Ray is about a servant who was blamed to the thing which he had not committed. As his honesty became questionable he was thrown out of the job and was not given any chance to prove his innocence. He died as he was so much under the stress of being blamed for something which he had not committed. After his death, he became a scarecrow who gave the proof of his innocence to Mriganko Babu who had blamed him of theft. He became a scarecrow so that he would be able to tell about his innocence to his master. Hence, the title of the play "The Scarecrow" is justifiable. The scarecrow does not only was intended to scare out the crows and the birds but became useful in scaring Mriganko Babu as well.
