The title Hundred Dresses is justified as the story revolves around a girl name Wanda, who everyday wears a shabby dress  to school, however claims that she has around 100 dresses

Explanation:

  • The Hundred Dresses is based on the author's real experiences of a girl that her classmates (especially by a girl named Maddie and her groupf of friends) ridicule because she is different. Wanda Petronski is the only student in her class with a 'funny' Polish name and she comes from the poor part of town.  She's still calm and every morning she wears the same blue fading dress at school, though she says that she's got a hundred dresses "all lined in her wardrobe.
  • Maddie and her friends later learned that Wanda is a skilled artist and that she won the School Art Contest by designing one hundred lovely dresses. The girls realize that they misjudged and feel extremely bad for never believing her stories of her one hundred dresses.
